Remember as a child the first entry into your personal diary? Well, today is another first; my first blog. The big difference is sharing my thoughts with the whole world, instead of keeping them safely under lock and key. All of a sudden the world is obsessed with communication; we just can‘t get enough of it. If you think I’m kidding, the next time you’re waiting at a stop light look over and see how many people are either texting (heaven forbid) or talking on their cell phones. Having a normal face-to-face conversation with someone will become a rare, memorable occasion. Another event that is only a faded memory now is hand-written letters. Treasures only our grandparents can cherish.
Wikipedia, defines Social Media as:
“Social media is media designed to be disseminated through social interaction, created using highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques. Social media uses internet- and web-based technologies to transform and broadcast media monologues into social media dialogues. It supports the democratization of knowledge and information and transforms people from content consumers to content producers. Social media utilization is believed to be a driving factor in the idea that the current period in time will be defined as the Attention Age.”
“Social media has become the new “tool” for effective business marketing and sales. Social media isn’t the only way for businesses to interact with consumers but is also a source of networking and communication between people.”
